چکیده
We report a tentative detection with the IRAM 30m telescope of the LiH molecule in absorption in front of the lensed quasar B0218+357. We have searched for the J = 0 → 1 rotational line of lithium hydride at 444 GHz (redshifted to 263 GHz). The line, if detected, is optically thin, very narrow, and corresponds to a column density of N(LiH) = 1.6 10 12 cm −2 for an assumed excitation temperature of 15 K, or a relative abundance LiH/H 2 ∼ 3 10 −12. We discuss the implications of this result.

REDSHIFTED MOLECULAR ABSORPTION SYSTEMS TOWARDS PKS 1830 − 211 AND B 0218 + 357 : SUBMILLIMETER CO , C i AND H 2 O DATA
We have detected the J = 4 ← 3 rotational transition of CO in absorption at z = 0.89 towards the quasar PKS 1830−211, but not the CO (5 ← 4) or the P1 ← 3 P0 fine structure line of neutral carbon. The intervening molecular medium thus has a total CO column density of 10 cm ≤ N(CO) ≤ 5×10 cmwith a most likely value of N(CO) ≃ 2×10 cm, which corresponds to the large column density of molecular hy...

We report the detection of the H2O molecule in absorption at a redshift z=0.68466 in front of the gravitationally lensed quasar B0218+357. We detect the fundamental transition of ortho–water at 556.93GHz (redshifted to 330.59GHz). The line is highly optically thick and relatively wide (15 km/s FWHM), with a profile that is similar to that of the previously detected CO(2–1) and HCO(2–1) opticall...
متن کاملSe p 20 02 The Redshift of the Lensed Object in the Einstein Ring B 0218 + 357
We present a secure redshift of z = 0.944±0.002 for the lensed object in the Einstein ring gravitational lens B0218+357 based on five broad emission lines, in good agreement with our preliminary value announced several years ago based solely on the detection of a single emission line. Subject headings: gravitational lensing — galaxies: redshifts – galaxies: individual (B0218 + 357)

This poster presents a new 5 GHz combined MERLIN/VLA map of B0218+357 which shows for the first time believable substructure in the Einstein ring. This will now be exploited for further constraints on the model which presently dominates the error on the estimate of H 0 derived from the time delay (10.5±0.4 days) measured for this system.
متن کاملFurther Investigation of the Time Delay, Magnification Ratios, and Variability in the Gravitational Lens 0218+357
High precision VLA flux density measurements for the lensed images of 0218+357 yield a time delay of 10.1 −1.6 days (95% confidence). This is consistent with independent measurements carried out at the same epoch (Biggs et al. 1999), lending confidence in the robustness of the time delay measurement. However, since both measurements make use of the same features in the light curves, it is possi...
